Lockheed Martin Canada Invests $3.6M CAD in Ottawa-based Lemay.ai
Funding supports artificial intelligence research and development in several areas, including sovereign knowledge management

Ottawa, ON, March 31, 2026 – Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT) Canada announced a $3.6M CAD investment in Canadian small-to-medium business Lemay.ai, launching a collaborative effort to advance research and development across Canada’s aerospace and defence sectors.

The project supports artificial intelligence research and development in the areas of:

  • Predictive maintenance for airframe structures and turbine analytics
  • Supply chain machine learning operations optimization
  • Global Navigation Satellite System denied navigation
  • Sovereign knowledge management

The project includes collaboration with the Czech Aerospace Research Centre, a leader in aerospace research and development, and serves to strengthen global allied defence industrial bases.

This investment is enabled by Canada’s Industrial and Technological Benefits policy, fulfilling economic impact commitments related to Canada’s acquisition and in-service support of the CC-130J Super Hercules aircraft fleet.

“This partnership with Lemay.ai shows how defence investments, paired with the Industrial and Technological Benefits (ITB) Policy, can strengthen national security while also driving economic growth at home. By leveraging this policy, Canadian companies can scale up, innovate, and create well-paying jobs, securing long term economic growth across the country,” said the Honourable Mélanie Joly, Minister of Industry and Minister responsible for Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions.

“With over 85 years of presence and partnership in Canada, we are dedicated to growing and strengthening a sovereign Canadian defence industry that drives meaningful economic impact,” said Kristen Leroux, vice president and regional executive for Canada and Latin America at Lockheed Martin. “This investment in Lemay.ai achieves these goals, championing the development of a Canadian small-to-medium enterprise and delivering cutting-edge solutions to the aerospace and defence industry.”

“We’re honoured to receive this significant ITB investment from Lockheed Martin Canada to advance our research in artificial intelligence,” said Mathieu Lemay, CEO of Lemay.ai. “This partnership underscores Lockheed Martin Canada’s confidence in our team’s ability to deliver innovative AI solutions that enhance mission capabilities across the defence sector.”

Beyond this collaboration, the project will advance research and development across Canada’s aerospace and defence sectors by driving innovation in predictive maintenance and machine learning. The partnership will also foster workforce growth by creating new jobs, internships, and apprenticeships in fields such as instructional design, technology development, and business operations.
