OTTAWA, May 16, 2018 – Lockheed Martin Canada is proud to sponsor the STEAM Horizon Awards and congratulate this year’s winners: Cassidy Blanchard (Meadows, NL), Ella Chan (Victoria, BC), Kayley Ting (Richmond Hill, ON), Maya Mikutra-Cencora (L’Île-Bizard, QC), and Shaye Anne Pierson (Coalhurst, AB).
In the appropriate setting of the Canada Science and Technology Museum and with an audience of high school students from the National Capital Region, this award was given out to celebrate the important contributions of five Canada’s youth in the STEAM fields: science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics. Each youth receives a $25,000 scholarship towards their post-secondary education.
“Our motto at Lockheed Martin is ‘We’re Engineering a Better Tomorrow,’” said Charles Bouchard, chief executive of Lockheed Martin Canada, who was on hand as a major corporate sponsor of the awards. “Nowhere is this brighter tomorrow more evident than when you see the faces and hear the stories of the young Canadians who won this very special award. On behalf of Lockheed Martin, I offer all of the winners and their families, who are so important in their success, my congratulations and best wishes for continued success.”
Established by Ingenium – Canada’s Museums of Science and Innovation, the second annual STEAM Horizon Awards were supported by the Ingenium Foundation, Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC), Syncrude, Indspire, Vintage Wings of Canada and Lockheed Martin Canada. This year’s winners reflected the diversity, creativity and ingenuity that embodies Canadian youth from across the country.
