Canada News Releases
Ottawa, Ontario, Feb. 7 2017 – Lockheed Martin Canada has partnered with Toronto-based RANK Software to create innovative cyber security solutions for future Canadian and international defence programs.
The demand for solutions that can defend against advanced persistent cyber threats, coupled with the worldwide scarcity of trained cybersecurity individuals, became the basis for creating the co-branded security analytics solution now being showcased in Lockheed Martin Canada’s IMPACT Centre in Ottawa.
“RANK Software’s inventive approach to threat monitoring pairs well with Lockheed Martin’s pioneering leadership in cybersecurity and complex systems engineering and integration,” said Rosemary Chapdelaine, Vice President and General Manager, Lockheed Martin Canada Rotary and Mission Systems (RMS). “This partnership was a natural fit for our IMPACT Centre, where we are bringing Canadian industry and academia together for critical research, development and advancement of new technologies.”
Visitors to the IMPACT Centre can witness firsthand the potency of combining complete network visibility with a unique visualization approach to enable security analysts to rapidly discover network threats and intrusions. Future enhancements are already planned as the cooperative relationship between the two companies continues to evolve. Lockheed Martin has long been considered a cyber pioneer, developing the Cyber Kill Chain model that has become a global standard-bearer for network defence. The company regularly partners with small businesses to bring in new technologies that augment its robust cyber capabilities.
“The future of threat monitoring and investigations of all types relies on our ability to successfully develop and deploy solutions that leverage data science, behavioral analytics and machine learning to quickly identify and prioritize risk,” says Niranjan Mayya, Founder & CEO of RANK Software. “RANK has both the technological and real-world experience to develop revolutionary new solutions that weed out noise and focus critical investigative resources on the most material threats”.
Lockheed Martin Canada created the IMPACT (Innovation, Mentorship, Partnership, Collaboration and Technology) Centre with a vision to promote the growth of small Canadian businesses, advance research, support sustainability and enhance Canada’s capability for major exports in defence and technology sectors. At the heart of the IMPACT Centre, is an initial core focus on naval systems and the competitive naval combat systems world market. Work showcased at the centre will aim to meet Canada’s needs for the Canadian Surface Combatant program and international opportunities.
The IMPACT Centre launch has given RANK Software greater visibility within the Lockheed Martin ecosystem and offers unique opportunities to demonstrate and develop the technology as well as participate in future programs in Canada and abroad.
