Ottawa, Canada, Nov. 15, 2016 – Lockheed Martin Canada was pleased to welcome its Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of Lockheed Martin Corporation (NYSE:LMT), Marillyn Hewson to its Rotary and Mission Systems (RMS) facility in Kanata, Ontario. During Hewson’s visit to this facility, she had the opportunity to meet with approximately 200 employees working on the engineering, design, manufacturing and development of key Canadian defence and technology programs.

In her remarks to employees, Hewson emphasized Lockheed Martin Canada’s important role in the corporation’s overall international growth strategy.

One of the innovations that was showcased for Hewson is the Combat Management System (CMS 330). Derived from work by Lockheed Martin Canada dating back to the 1980s with the original builds of the Royal Canadian Navy’s HALIFAX Class of frigates, this Combat Management System is now an integral component in the successful HALIFAX Class Modernization (HCM) program and a core solution for Canada’s new Arctic Offshore Patrol Ships (AOPS) as part of Canada’s National Shipbuilding Strategy.

Lockheed Martin Canada’s growing global reputation as an innovative Canadian company and expertise as a systems integrator was also on display. During the tour of the manufacturing and operations floor, Hewson had the opportunity to see work being completed for New Zealand’s ANZAC Frigate System Upgrade. This contract, awarded to Lockheed Martin Canada by the Royal New Zealand Navy marks the first export of the innovative CMS 330 and is further validation of Lockheed Martin Canada’s technology, management, and ability to deliver. The upgrade of the Royal New Zealand Navy’s ANZAC Class will also mark the first time a foreign navy will send their warships to Canada for full scale modernization – another example of the export opportunities that are enhanced by Lockheed Martin Canada’s strong track record of innovation and its partnerships across Canada.

For the past 77 years, Lockheed Martin has had a continued presence in Canada and has been a trusted partner, growing a strong Canadian supply chain that includes over 1400 contracts with a significant economic impact to Canada.

Lockheed Martin Canada’s RMS current facility in Kanata on Palladium drive was newly renovated and opened in December 2014 and the company has been an integral part of the local Ottawa community for over 20 years providing products and services in support of the Canadian government, Canadian Armed Forces as well as renewable energy solutions for remote/off-grid communities. Located in the west end of Canada’s capital, the 109,000 square feet, state-of-the-art facility has approximately 200 highly skilled employees and is designed to meet Lockheed Martin’s growth strategy with available accommodation for up to 350 employees. In addition to supporting Lockheed Martin Canada’s growing reputation as a systems integrator for naval ships, the facility also houses manufacturing and in-service support units for vehicles and equipment used by all branches of the military.
